Bucket List activity

Source: Spelman College Section, National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) circa 2015-2016

Instructions:

  • Everyone pairs up with someone they do not know

  • They write a bucket list of ten exciting, bizarre, and extreme activities for their partner to complete within an agreed upon timeframe.

Modifications:

My best friend feels like “bucket list” is too morbid since the concept conveys the idea of achieving certain goals before you “kick the bucket.” He prefers “longevity list” because he thinks that is less morbid.

Praxis (why + theory):

An opportunity to share values, passions, desires, and experiences that are meaningful to us, and manifest them for someone else. This exercise creates the potential to shape the trajectory of someone’s experience within a specific place or time frame. Many lists contain challenges that are far outside someone’s comfort zone or even cultural frame of reference.
